Introduction

The Netball Club was formed in 1996 by T-Bone Shlahani and a few girls at UNP who wanted to play netball, but found that it was not offered at the Pietermaritzburg Campus. Over the years the club has grown to 26 players in 1999, and moved from a corner of the soccer field to our own floodlit courts behind the swimming pool (known as the Denison Courts).

We try to maintain a high level of play in a friendly atmosphere while always welcoming newcomers and doing our best to teach them the game.

We hold regular practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5.30 pm at the Denison courts and will entered 2 or 3 teams in the iNdlovu Netball League which holds matches on Saturdays. Practices will start again in early 2001, so keep your eyes open.We are trying to affiliate to Midlands which will make it possible for our stronger players to represent the reigion.

In 1999, we went on a very successful tour to the SASSU tournament which was held in Port Elizabeth. We were unable to do this again in 2000 as the tournament was regional, although 4 of our players did play for the KZN students team. We are hoping to tour again in 2001. Any sponsorship would be welcomed.
